Welcome to Spots for Tots ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with applicable data protection regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union and the UK GDPR. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information

  • Name and Email Address: We collect this information when you create an account or log in using third-party services (Google or Apple).
  • Login Credentials: If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we only request access to the core information necessary to create and manage your account (e.g., your name and email).

1.2 Location Information

  • With your permission, we collect your device location to show nearby locations within the App.
  • The real-time location is sent to our API only to retrieve relevant nearby data and is not stored on our servers.
  • We cache your location on your device to quickly display your current location without repeatedly requesting it from your device.

1.3 Anonymous Analytics

  • We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous data about how users interact with our App. This data helps us improve performance and user experience.
  • No personally identifiable information (PII) is included in analytics data.

1.4 Advertising Data

  • We use Google AdMob to serve advertisements within the App. AdMob may use device identifiers or cookies (where applicable) to personalize and measure ads.
  • Under UK and EU regulations (GDPR), AdMob may require user consent for personalized ads. We will request your consent where required, or provide a way for you to opt out of personalized ads.

1.5 Push Notifications

  • We use Firebase Cloud Messaging to send push notifications to your device. We only use a unique device token assigned by Firebase to deliver these notifications. No other personal information is transmitted in this process.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Account Creation and Management: Your name and email address help us authenticate your account and provide the core functionality of the App.
  • Service Improvements: We analyze usage and anonymous analytics data to enhance the App's performance, functionality, and design.
  • Showing Nearby Locations: We use your device's current location (with your permission) to display nearby points of interest, but do not store this data on our servers.
  • Push Notifications: If you opt in, we send notifications about updates, reminders, or important alerts related to the App.
  • Advertising: Where required by applicable law (UK/EU), we obtain your consent before serving personalized ads through AdMob.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (UK/EU Users)

If you are located in the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your personal data only when we have a valid legal basis, including:

  • Consent: For serving personalized ads and collecting location data.
  • Contractual Necessity: For providing and maintaining the App (e.g., creating and managing your user account).
  • Legitimate Interests: For analyzing usage to improve our services (where your rights and interests do not override our legitimate interests).

4. How We Share Your Information

Third-Party Services:

  • Google (AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Cloud Messaging) and Apple (for sign-in) are integral to our App.
  • Each of these services has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.
  • We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

5. Data Storage and Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

6. Your Rights (UK/EU Users)

If you are located in the UK or EEA, you have the following data protection rights:
